Bishop said the man’s demeanor was chilling. “I did look over at him and he was kind of like… that was his face, just kind of like, not a smile or anything.” She reflected on the encounter after learning of the shooting, wondering if she could have done more. “Had I seen the impact a rifle down his leg, if I had looked at him a little longer… then immediately after that happened, would I have thought back to him, you know, and been able to alert authorities quicker?”

Ultimately, Bishop concluded there was nothing she could have done differently, but she remains shocked to have been so close to the alleged killer. “Just to have been like an eyewitness to him on his way there is just shocking to me.”

Candace Owens Raises Questions

While Bishop’s account initially appeared to be a straightforward eyewitness testimony, Candace Owens quickly began to probe deeper. On her channel, Owens expressed skepticism about Bishop’s background and her connection to the local police department.

“When I saw that, I was actually kind of giddy because I was like, finally, it looks like a college student from UVU who is speaking to the news. That’s great. Nope,” Owens said. She then revealed that Bishop does not attend UVU, but instead works as a record specialist for the Orem Police Department.

“There’s an emerging pattern,” Owens continued. “For whatever reason, nobody who spoke to the press said what their connections were. It turns out that she works for the Orem Police Department. She’s a record specialist.”

Owens noted that the department had recently undergone significant staff changes, with several retirements and new hires. “I don’t know when she started working there, but she works at the ORM Police Department and we’re hearing a lot of stuff about some plausible corruption that might be going on there.”

Owens also questioned Bishop’s presence at the Kirk event during work hours. “If you work for the ORM Police Department, what were you doing going to a Charlie Kirk event in the middle of the day? Assuming that’s a full-time job. Charlie spoke on a Wednesday. What were you doing there at all? Actually, is this like the longest lunch break ever?”

Despite reaching out to Bishop for further clarification, Owens reported that Bishop declined to comment beyond her initial testimony, stating that she had already provided the necessary information to authorities.

The “Witness Tree” Expands

Owens’ investigation did not stop with Bishop. She began to compile a list of other witnesses who had spoken to various media outlets, analyzing their backgrounds and connections.

Among them was Tiffany Barker, whose sister was Phil Lyman’s running mate in the 2024 Utah gubernatorial race. Barker spoke to “Good Morning America” in the early hours following the shooting. Lyman himself has been a vocal critic of Owens, accusing her of being “shady” and an “accomplice to something.”

Another witness, Emmanuel, works as a software engineer for Domo Incorporated and has a German background. Owens noted that none of these individuals had reached out to her directly, despite her efforts to gather more information.

Scott Robbins, another witness featured in a USA Today video, was identified as a former gubernatorial candidate in Utah. Owens found it curious that none of the media outlets asked witnesses about their professional backgrounds or potential conflicts of interest.

According to Owens and other sources, Kirk sent out an internal letter on September 2nd—just one week before his death—announcing the creation of a “Doge department” to audit finances and restructure divisions.

The letter, verified by Amy Yi on X (formerly Twitter), outlined Kirk’s concerns about financial management within the organization. “Charlie was concerned not only about where the money was going, but also about the flow of money incoming,” Amy wrote.

Kirk’s letter named Justin Stief as the new Chief Operating Officer, tasked with overseeing development, events, finance, media, marketing, and more. The audit was intended to make the organization more efficient, cost-effective, and unified around company-wide metrics and goals.
