Last month, the NFL and Netflix announced that the most awarded female artist in Grammy history would headline the game in her hometown of Houston, along with a few special guests.

Beyoncé’s country album Cowboy Carter reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with hit singles like Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages, making the Cuff It singer the first black woman to top Billboard’s Country Albums chart since the chart’s inception in 1964.

In September 2024, Beyoncé defended her controversial decision not to release music videos for her seventh and eighth studio albums, Renaissance and Cowboy Carter , respectively .

“I think it’s important that in an age where we only see images, the world can focus on voices,” she shared in an article in GQ magazine’s October 2024 issue.

The Single Ladies singer said the visuals can sometimes “take away from the quality of the voice and the music”.

Beyoncé’s latest halftime show comes just after her husband, Jay-Z, was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 along with now-incarcerated friend Sean “Diddy” Combs. The rappers have vehemently denied the allegations.
